Ms. Thulisile Mhlungu is a registered Attorney and Conveyancer with extensive experience as a facilitator, coach and trainer in both public and private sector organisations. She works in Change Management, Leadership and Team Development.
Ms. Mhlungu’s previous positions include Director of the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) University Law Clinic (Westville Campus), Deputy Director and Project Manager at the UKZN Law Clinic (Howard College) and Clinical Legal Education Lecturer.
Thulisile has trained with Results Coaching Systems, a reputable international coaching organisation, as a Life and Team Coach. She participated in the Land Mark Forum in Cape Town in 2010 and in 2011 completed the Land Mark Advanced Leadership Course in London and the Investment in Excellence (IIE) Leadership programme offered by the Pacific Institute, South Africa.
In her current primary role as Head Consultant and Director of Maua Coaching and Facilitation, Ms. Mhlungu has consulted for numerous organisations and companies.
She was country and international facilitator for the British Council’s Pan African Leaders’ programme – facilitating workshops in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Lesotho and the United Kingdom.
She also facilitated linkages between Ekiti State (Nigeria) and the Gauteng Legislature (South Africa) as well as between Ekiti State and Ilembe Enterprise (South Africa). It is during these projects that she facilitated and hosted reciprocal visits between the entities resulting in a partnership agreement between the Ekiti State House of Assembly and the Gauteng Provincial Legislature and the signing of a Memorandum of Co-operation by the Speakers of both parliaments in Johannesburg at the end of February 2012.
Ms. Mhlungu designs and facilitates Leadership and Team development programmes on a continuous basis with the General Secretary of the Treatment Action Campaign and the unit’s leadership as well as the Regional Management in their Ekuruleni office, Gauteng (South Africa).
Thulisile is also a Social Activist, who, moved by the plight of school girls in South Africa with no access to sanitary pads due to the poor financial situations – and the resultant implication on their education as a consequence – founded Imbali. Imbali is her personal Social Action project providing access to sanitary pads to girls in six schools and one children’s home in KwaZulu Natal.
Ms. Mhlungu’s business interests also include her involvement in the Amway Business as an “Emerald level” Business Owner, the first Black business to achieve this in Amway’s 15 year history.
Thulisile serves on a number of committees and boards. She is currently a non-Executive Director of Legal Aid South Africa as the Deputy Chair of the Legal Services Committee, a position that she has held for five years. She has served as an Advisory Board member of the Land Rights Management Facility, a project of the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, for two years and is a long standing Trustee of the AULAI Trust, a Trust created for the sole purpose of raising and managing funds to sustain the Clinical Law movement in the country.
